Farleigh Further Education College Frome is an independent specialist residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger's syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural difficulties.

The college has eight residential houses in the community each with its own identity, working ethos and dedicated team of staff. This provides learners with the opportunity to experience independent living in a range of different settings.

We aim to provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure and life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

Our dedicated team of staff create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our learners have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership of their home. Our approach enables young people to develop the confidence and skills they need to progress towards adulthood, including further or higher education and sustainable independent living in the community.

We are seeking to appoint a Design Technology Tutor. This role is central to our vocational pathways offer. Ideally candidates will have a range of skills and experiences to draw from including; business enterprise, design and manufacturing.

Candidates will be required to deliver tuition at both level 1 and 2.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who has a passion for the subject and a drive to play a part in developing an interesting, effective and ambitious vocational programme.

Our Tutors work with small groups of young people, which allows them to fully engage with students and ensures that the programme of learning meets the needs of the individual. With a student centred approach, we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment within which young people can flourish.

Candidates should have a passion and commitment for providing creative and high quality learning experiences. With a dynamic and inclusive approach you will have high expectations for our learners and a drive to help them achieve the best possible learning outcomes.

You will have an empathic approach and the ability to be flexible and adapt to individual needs.

This role will be based for the main part at our workshop in Southwick, a few miles from our college in Frome town centre. You will be part of our Education Team who are based at the college.

Applicants should be qualified to deliver Design Technology at Level 1 and 2. Experience of working within a SEN environment is desirable and in particular an understanding of ASD. However, we would also welcome applicants who are keen to develop skills within specialist provision and will provide support and training.

We are able to discuss both full and part time options for this role. This is term time only post.
