A dynamic Liverpool based Innovation Centre of Excellence are recruiting for a Consumer Insights Manager to support the design and development of Next Generation Products (NGPs) required for the companys ambitious innovation programme and growth plans.

This role will bring consumer insights out of qualitative, quantitative and sensory consumer research to drive the delivery of outstanding innovations and preferred products in the market place. This is to ensure they have the right strategic consumer understanding in place for project delivery based on real consumer technical insights.

Due to their ambitious growth plans, they have several positions covering this role description and will recruit candidates with different levels of experience. Pay and responsibility will reflect levels of experience and skills.

Consumer Insights Manager Main Accountabilities:
- Consumer & Product (Sensory) Insights for NGP Innovation - deliver consumer and product insights to guide the development of superior consumer experiences by shaping and delivering on target attributes and benefits for NGP.
- Propose, design and implement consumer research to assess the performance of product/pack prototypes on the key attributes and benefits.
- Define and refine key consumer insights (preference drivers, segmentation, needs, etc.) to drive product development and innovation.
- Develop new research approaches to provide a deep and sound understanding of their consumers, consumers needs and identify technical gaps and opportunities for innovation.
- Insight Generation and Translation into New NGP Opportunities - Proactively leverage consumer, market and product insights and combine these with science/technology insights to identify opportunities for product innovation.

Excellence in Consumer Insight Techniques & Sensory Evaluation
- Keep abreast of internal and external developments in consumer research techniques and sensory evaluation methodology and apply knowledge for product improvement and innovation.
- Identify what sensory & consumer research is needed to support project objectives and develop briefs for this. Delineate actionable insights and recommendations for project teams.
- Understand and apply the principles of experimental design and statistical analyses to maximize the quality of consumer and sensory research.
- Ensure full compliance with safety and ethical standards for product testing.

Consumer Insights Manager experience requirements
- BSc/ MSc/ PhD (qualification or equivalent) in human sciences (e.g. psychology, social science, food science, marketing).
- Experience in a consumer (technical) insight role or Market Research agency with leading edge understanding of product testing.
- Fully operational in the consumer and sensory research techniques (qualitative and quantitative) used for improved and new product development.
- Significant experience within FMCG or consumer health companies in product categories where consumer science makes up an important part of product development.
- The ability to effectively turn consumer feedback into inspiring actions & recommendations.
- Experience in insight generation and deep consumer understanding, product evaluation and claims support studies.
- The ability to integrate sensory and consumer methods into research plans, integrate data and draw conclusions that can generate compelling project briefs.
- Ability to work independently, together with a strong bias for action and ability to prioritise.
