The role will lead the Development team based in all the Group locations, to ensure technical compliance, common technologies, elimination of duplicated effort, adherence to best practice, effective organisation and improved quality of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

·Lead and motivate team developing a culture of quality delivery.

·In conjunction with them agree and use common development toolkits and technologies

·Increase focus on providing quality solutions that require no ongoing technical support - where necessary in conjunction with the relevant business analyst sharing the responsibility for providing the operating instructions and documentation.

·Ensure that all activities and deliveries comply with any relevant legal or industry legislation and other guidelines or requirements set out in the EMW Group information technology Security Policy.

·Support Development team training to ensure that all training needs are known

·Ensure good interaction, planning sessions and communication with the IT infrastructure, project and support groups and product regular progress reports to the Head of IT and IT director

·Appreciate the impact of change in a business and design developments so that they can be phased in with minimum business overhead and disruption.

·Along with the IT Director and Head of IT contribute to the IT Strategy.

Key Tasks

·Migrate development team onto common technologies

·Support staff to embrace agreed technologies identifying training needs and in conjunction with Head of IT planning staff development.

·Monitor activity and balance workload across all the development staff ensuring that either technical documentation exists or a shared knowledge is gained in the team

·Monitor use of technical facilities and platforms ensuring that by the implementation of the delivered systems no unexpected resource overhead accumulates.

·Ensure that where possible all deliveries can be used and add value across all the group operations

·Manager incoming activity and review development activities regularly to ensure most effective use of Development resource

·Provide direct line manager support for all development staff in all relevant locations

·Help problem solve where significant incidents or system failures occur - where necessary and appropriate owning the situation and activity.

·In conjunction with the IT Director and Head of IT Support unexpected business requirements which come about as a result of business acquisition or any other major business initiative.

Key Skills

·Strong Manager with good leadership, interpersonal and communications skills

·Knowledge and understanding of current contemporary development toolkit.

·Team Player who will liaise well with the other elements of IT and the larger business

·Ability to work remotely both in managing remote staff and having to travel to support remote staff directly

·Ability to add hands on help where difficulties encountered

·Inquisitive and progressive mind-set leading to generation of new ideas and problem solving to the general benefit of the Company
