We are looking for a SEMH Teacher to join our team at our school in Salisbury. We require an experienced teacher who is committed to fulfilling the potential of every one of our pupils, meeting their individual academic, behavioural social and emotional needs.

Essential Criteria:

·Batchelor of Education/PGCE/ or equivalent teaching degree

·Statutory requirements of the DfE Code of Practice

·Fully qualified teacher status (QTS/QTLS)

·Evidence of SEMH experience
  • Sound understanding of assessment processes, tracking and monitoring progress
  • Excellent understanding of complex education and behavioural needs of Primary and Secondary pupils
  • Ability to differentiate the curriculum in order to meet the needs of pupils within the school
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work within a multi professional setting
  • Leadership and management behaviours

Job Description:
  • To plan, prepare and deliver a range of lessons and evaluate these activities to inform future learning. You will develop your programmes using the National Curriculum as a framework or alternative curriculum programmes and ensure we meet the diverse needs and interests of each child.
  • To maintain individual records for each child based on observation and interaction, in order to monitor and track their progress and as a tool for planning and assessment.
  • To direct the teaching assistants/learning support assistants assigned to the class and work supportively and collaboratively as part of this small team.
  • To work in close partnership with the homes/carers/multi agency teams
  • To behave in a warm, friendly yet professional manner towards colleague and children
  • To share responsibility with colleagues for the general upkeep of the classroom, to include care of resources and equipment and to encourage the children to do the same.
  • To share responsibility for presentation of the children's work and for compilation of interest areas and displays.
  • To attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • To attend any INSET sessions and/or training for professional development to keep informed of current legislation and practice.

The Spires School in Salisbury works with children who have social, emotional and emerging mental health needs. The school is based in listed buildings and in a quiet area of Salisbury, providing a safe and nurturing environment for anxious, vulnerable pupils unable to sustain a mainstream placement.
