Reed Health, Nurse and Doctor are currently recruiting for Registered Medical Practitioners to undertake a Functional Assessor role working for the Centre for Health and Disability Assessments based out of their Doncaster site.

Employed practitioners normally work a 37.5 hour week, during core office hours from Monday to Friday.

The basic starting salary for Registered Medical Practitioners is £72,000 per annum. This is paid monthly in arrears on the 28th of each calendar month and is reviewed annually. There is a bonus scheme in place to reward exceptional performance and details are shared on commencement.

Out of hours and weekend work (overtime) is by agreement and according to business need and paid accordingly.

Purpose of post

To conduct medical assessments and examinations and produce concise reports for Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as part of a successful integrated team.

Main responsibilities

• To undertake a combination of file-work and face-to-face assessments of customers in relation to a variety of benefits and provide a report to DWP. File-work involves reviewing medical evidence in a written or electronic format to determine the suitability of a face-to-face assessment. Such assessments focus on how a disability effects a customers' day to day life in performing work related activities. These assessments may be recorded.
• To use IT software programmes to support clinical decision making when undertaking file-work and examinations.
• To provide comprehensive reports to enable decision makers at DWP to make informed decisions regarding benefit claims.
• Ensure that professional practice standards and "best practice" are maintained in all areas of work.
• To deliver productivity and quality standards agreed between CHDA and DWP and to respond positively to feedback.
• To undertake recorded assessments where required.
• To work unsupervised and use own initiative however know limitations and ask for support where necessary.
• To analyse and interpret clinical information and medical evidence and provide a report in a professional and concise manner.
• Work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and build positive working relationships with both medical colleagues and administrative support staff.
• Apply professional skills and manage own professional competence and accountability, in accordance with the GMC Code of Conduct.

You will need to have:

A minimum of 2 years full professional post registration and broad based client facing clinical experience
• Recent (in the past 3 years) demonstrable clinical experience
• Experience of communicating and working with working age adults
• Full unconditional professional registration with the GMC
• A valid licence to practice
• Excellent clinical, assessment, communication and report writing skills
• A flexible approach and be able to adapt to a fast changing work environment
• IT literate and able to use a computer
• A positive pro-active approach to learning and professional development
• Willingness to travel to a range of locations as the business requires
