Site Finance Manager - Food Manufacturing

Location: Derbyshire

Salary: £50-62,000 + car allowance + benefits

Our Client is a global food manufacturing organisation with turnover exceeding £1bn pa across the regions. The category which this extensive site sits within creates turnover exceeding £750m with this site's turnover currently sitting at over £150m

Leading a team and managing complex finance whilst SAP is being introduced you will be an incredible leader setting vision for the site whilst working collaboratively with the senior operational leadership team.

You will provide an effective management accounting and decision support service to the Operational management team at the site and assist each member of the team in delivering their strategic plans.

The role:
  • Promote a culture of rigorous financial control and commercial awareness and ensure Group Finance Policy is implemented and adhered to, liaising and assisting Head Office when appropriate.
  • Assist senior management in identifying and implementing improvements in the effectiveness of people, systems and working practices within the supply chain.
  • Support the Management Team as it looks to drive profitability by providing clarity and transparency around performance with insightful analysis to unlock profit improvement.
  • Undertake projects as required by the General Manager and divisional finance team, in particular in the areas of Innovation and high level evaluation of operational opportunities.
  • Maintain Category plan tracker and providing commentary on variations to target.
  • Review and presentation of weekly KPI reports and all associated routine reports provided by Business Services function.
  • Be aware of and keep abreast of opportunity costs within the Division.
  • Conduct and advise management on cost analysis and benchmarking both internal and external and act as a conduit between inter site management.
  • Develop and prepare Scenario Cost Model analysis to aid decision making process.
  • Preparation of capital investment proposals and payback review.
  • Assist senior managers in annual budget process in relation to operating costs and capacities.
  • Assist Category Accountant - Commercial on reporting on impact of inflation cost increases.
  • Ensure integrity in all product costings and factory process measurement.
  • Carry out such exercises as the Category management and Group management may require from time to time.
  • To monitor and control any negative environmental impact arising from the processes within area of responsibility; ensuring that all direct reports and colleagues are briefed
  • Lead and inspire a team of finance professionals to achieve the best results for the site
  • Create continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the site is running as efficiently as possible

The person:
  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified Finance Manager with excellent technical skills.
  • Experience of and passionate about manufacturing processes and food products
  • Experience of leading finance on a large manufacturing site
  • Strong planning, interpersonal and diplomacy skills, motivated to deliver a responsive, proactive service.
  • Excellent and advanced spreadsheet and modelling skills.
  • Be able to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
  • Experience of relationship building with senior management.
  • Able and confident to "take a view" whilst understanding the sensitivity of that situation.
  • Capable of working on confidential and sensitive issues with the utmost discretion.
  • Innovative, decisive and resourceful in problem solving.
  • Able to command respect and influence at a senior level, debating with confidence and diplomacy.
  • Be an effective team player.
  • Effective communicator at all levels, taking account of the recipients' financial knowledge and awareness.
  • High degree of commercial aptitude and acumen.
  • Experience of ERP systems - SAP would be an advantage
  • Passionate about manufacturing
  • Experience of lean manufacturing projects.
  • Experience of implementing business scorecard.
