The role:

You will be helping to ensure that the company fully understand current and future trends, as well as the wider economic environment as it relates to the company. You will be responsible for preparing high quality research in order to provide key stakeholders throughout the business with the tools to effectively prioritise potential projects and opportunities. A key part of your role will be to analyse and interpret information (financial, market, consumer and other), then providing commercially relevant recommendations for each area of the Group to drive change and growth.

In addition to regular bench marking against competitors and consumer expectations in existing markets, you will be responsible for researching and understanding potential new markets, both in terms of categories and countries, supporting the delivery of the future growth of the Group.

The team work on large pan-European and Group wide projects, as well as supporting the business on their strategic growth plans, so typically are involved in a diverse range of interesting and exciting opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for providing timely and meaningful analysis and insight to the relevant business units and wider Group
  • Present, both in writing and verbally, research findings with commercial recommendations based around risk and reward
  • Analysing (financially, strategically and commercially) the value of requests from the business units and working efficiently to solve problems
  • Provide meaningful research analysis and insight to help the business understand the external environment to optimise their position further
  • Financial modelling and Analysis (alongside Finance and Commercial teams internally) to assess the viability of new initiatives and projects
  • Generate innovative research projects that could be implemented within the business, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of retail and customer focus
  • Gain (over time) a broad and detailed understanding of the Group and their strategy, to effectively analyse opportunities alongside the external market environment

The successful candidate:
  • University degree or relevant academic qualifications, or transferable skills from prior role
  • AAT, CIMA, ACA, MBA or other finance / business related qualifications would be beneficial, but not essential
  • Highly analytical and a problem solver with the ability to disseminate vast quantities of information in a simple and easy to digest format
  • Commercially minded, linking risks and opportunities to business objectives
  • Logical and tenacious approach, demonstrating a "can do" attitude
  • Ambitious and self motivated to progress within a dynamic and fast paced organisation
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate high levels of integrity and professionalism, in particular discretion and the ability to maintain highly confidential information
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, particularly Excel and power point
