Job Title: Teacher of Mathematics

Location: Hertfordshire

Salary: £28,045.00 - £40,398.00 p/a

Hours: Full-Time

Responsible to: the Head but will liaise with the Head of Mathematics/Director of Studies

Job Start: September 2019

Our client an outstanding Preparatory School in Hertfordshire is looking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic Qualified teacher to deliver mathematics up to KS3. The ability to teach other subject would be desirable.

The candidate would be expected to be involved in a wide and diverse School's extra curriculum activity such as sport (ability and willingness to coach), after school clubs (would be expected to run a club of their choice once a week), Activities Sessions (would be expected to run an activity of their choice), would be willing to organise and be involved in School trips and candidates willingness to be involved in School's drama and music would be viewed positively.

  • Must have a clear understanding of the Mathematics curriculum up to KS3
  • Take responsibility for a group of children during timetabled teaching periods
  • Produce Short and Medium Term teaching plans
  • Liaise with SENCO
  • Support the Head and Director of Studies in maintaining high standards
  • Set and mark homework, assessments and exams
  • Prepare specific additional work to support individual children's needs
  • Attend all staff meetings and inset days and other School events
  • To write individual reports for each child
  • Pastoral welfare of the class
  • Taking morning and afternoon register
  • Discipline of the class
  • Oversee Assistant working in the classroom
  • To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Games coaching responsibilities:
  • To help to deliver a distinctive games curriculum emphasising on pupil attainment
  • To make sure that innovative and appropriate approaches to learning are made to pupils with specific learning needs
  • To coach, prepare and organise school teams and officiating matches

  • Qualified Teacher's Status
  • Good knowledge of and experience in Maths curriculum up to KS3
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills (MS Office) and experience with interactive white boards
  • Evidence of ability to integrate IT into their lessons
  • Additional subjects (preferred)
  • Ability to teach effectively across the whole ability range
  • Full Clean driving licence
