The successful candidate will ensure delivery of high quality medical information services both reactively to external customers and proactively to internal customers, which conforms to all relevant legal requirements, Codes of Practice and company guidelines and policies. We are looking for a candidate who has experience working in Medical Information or as a quality or GxP environment, with some experience of interpreting and presenting complex scientific or clinical data, both verbally and in writing. A knowledge of drug development or clinical trial process is desirable and supervisory or line management experience is preferable. Key Responsibilities* Provide timely, accurate, appropriate and clear verbal and written information in response to enquiries about the Company's products or therapy areas from external customers in order to facilitate the appropriate, effective, safe and continued use of company products* Recording enquiries/ questions accurately in databases in order to produce detailed and appropriate reports for relevant internal stakeholders* Ensure all the necessary details of the enquiry are understood, and appropriate high quality responses are provided to the customer in accordance with customer deadlines and expectations as well as company developed KPIs* Accountable for communicating information effectively and clearly in written and oral forms at levels appropriate to the needs of the customer* Requirement for full compliance with company procedures, ABPI Code of Practice and industry guidance* Show an awareness of possible implications behind enquiries, and to inform the Medical Information Manager to ensure they are kept fully informed of problems and issues that may be arising* Establish and cultivate a good working relationship with internal customers such as marketing, sales, medical and regulatory colleagues to ensure that the services provided are relevant to the business needs, and that development opportunities are identified* Participate in project team activities and provide training for GBU personnel as required* Provide feedback to brand team and medical affairs colleagues related to medical information enquiry trends in order to ensure that this is fed into strategic planning* Reviewing current processes, and suggesting ideas for continuous improvement within the department* Proactively generating and updating internal information sources considered to be Frequently Ask Questions (FAQ), keeping them up to date with both product information and published data, and collaborating with regional and global MI departments where necessary* Make decisions about, and ensure appropriate dissemination of, product information changes utilising both hard print and electronic sources* Acquire and sustain a thorough knowledge of sources of published information and indexing/retrieval tools, specifically those related to biomedicine and drug therapy* Identify suspected spontaneous adverse drug reaction reports from the information given by customers during enquiry handling and ensure they are accurately reported to the Pharmacovigilance department in line with legal and company requirements* Identify potential product technical and quality complaints elicited during enquiry handling and ensure these are reported in line with legal and company requirementsEssential Skills * Degree in Pharmacy or relevant life science* Preferably previous experience in medical information in an industry or healthcare setting* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* An ability to understand, analyse and communicate relatively complex pharmacy, pharmacological, and clinical information about products in a systematic, fair and balanced way* Accuracy and an eye for detail working with medical information data and material review* Ability to prioritise, plan and organise work with the appropriate sense of urgency based on customers and business needs* Application of sound professional judgement to ethical issues* Ability to work alone and to make appropriate informed decisions without supervision.* Ability to work within a team in an open and professional manner* Experience of or an understanding of a customer support role* Understanding of the principles of information storage and retrieval* Effective use of word processing, other office software including databases and web systems* Demonstrate awareness of issues which impact on Medical Information policies, SOPs and working instructionsBackgroundAshfield is a fast-paced place to work where you will be highly valued.
