Brooks Life Sciences is the leading worldwide provider of robotic compound management and biological sample storage systems.

We have a great opportunity for a Commissioning Engineer to join our team. The role will be based on-site in Irlam, Manchester, with international travel.

Key responsibilities:
  • Involvement throughout the full project life cycle from design, through to build, test, installation and commission of systems.
  • Assist in initial design and the modification of designs once systems are in the build phase in the workshop.
  • Be involved in the in-house testing of systems and will troubleshoot problems as and when they occur. This will involve the reviewing of electrical and mechanical designs and the hands-on checking of mechanical and electrical systems including control panels.
  • The job holder will accompany systems to site and be actively involved in the installation and commissioning of systems. This will involve the testing of electrical, mechanical and software systems.

Communications:
  • The job holder will communicate internally with staff at all levels, particularly Project Managers, on occasion directly to electrical/mechanical/software engineers associated with a specific project.
  • On site, liaise with the appropriate client representative, e.g. the automation team leader or supervisor.
  • Much of the communication required is face-to-face with clients, consequently the job holder must be able to deal with people and situations in a tactful, diplomatic and confidential manner.
  • The position will require writing of technical manuals associated to the project

Skills profile:
  • Qualified to a minimum of HND or equivalent in a relevant subject, e.g. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
  • Awareness of relevant QA and Health & Safety issues.
  • The job holder will have a minimum of three years experience preferably gained in an electrical environment.
  • Experience of automation and control systems, advantageous
  • Good level of PC skills.
  • Previous experience in fault finding electrical and mechanical systems.

The successful candidate must be flexible to work overseas, we anticipate this to be 50% travel time with this role.
