Mechanical Configuration Engineer

Overall Purpose of the Job:

Mechanical design of new products and subsystems. Configuration and customisation of existing devices. Generating a bespoke solution from a framework of existing subsystems.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develops, analyses and maintains tools that support and automate processes for hardware configuration for customised product release.
  • Responsible for design/development, modification, and evaluation of primarily mechanical systems, equipment and packages.
  • Contribute to total systems engineering, including working with Technical Sales and other engineering disciplines.
  • Conducts feasibility studies and tests new and modified designs.
  • Ensures consistent BOM structure. Is involved in all phases of development from initial concept to manufacturing.
  • Works with team members in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.
  • Depending on level may function as a project engineer with the resident responsibilities of proposals, technical presentations, cross functional issue resolution.
  • Will keep up to date on technical advances in the discipline and related fields.

Skills and Aptitude Profile:
  • To be considered for this role you will ideally be qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering.
  • You will be proficient in developing design concepts using Solidworks 3D Modelling and computer aided design tools.
  • Experience of design for a low volume production environment would be desirable.
  • Proficient in IT; Excel, Word, Outlook
