Rates - Up To £301.88 per day (PAYE) - Up To £338.31 per day (LTD/Umbrella)

About the role / project:

Network Rail need an experienced, creative and hungry communications professional to join the Anglia route communications team at a crucial point in the railway calendar. As they begin to invest more than £2bn in running the railway in their region over the next five years, engaging and motivating their employees so they can deliver their very best will be vital to the success as a business. Equally, helping to deliver their 'People Plan' with incisive communications around recognition, diversity and inclusion, and recruitment, will enable realisation of their goals.

This autumn they host their inaugural Anglia Champions Employee Awards, celebrating the best efforts across the route. Internal communications will be vital to promote this important marker in their calendar.

They are also embarking on a major change for the business as Anglia is due to join up with three new routes and other parts of the business to become part of a new Eastern Region. Working closely with the wider route communications and HR teams, you will support the head of communications to deliver their plan and inform their people of the changes and what it means for them.

Internal communications on Anglia route has never been more important in helping the business and its people succeed both for themselves, Network Rail and the region as a whole.

What you will do:
  • Reporting to the Head of Communications for the route, you will put effective information cascades and engagement campaigns at the centre of your route internal communications plans.
  • Provide expert guidance to the route leadership, HR business partner and wider communication teams on internal communications issues, including employee engagement.
    • Work in partnership with the central internal communications team to adapt and implement national internal campaigns in the route, and to align route communications with the bigger picture.
  • Establish a local network of 'internal comms champions' to give you access to effective information gathering and comms distribution.
    • Manage the various internal communications channels in use on the route - face to face, paper-based and digital - and help to drive up the quality and effectiveness of their internal communications.
  • Manage a busy workload by producing and maintaining a rolling communications plan, detailing prioritised activities and necessary resources. Co-ordinate planning with central internal communications team where relevant.
  • As well as strategy development and tactical delivery, you will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating your internal communications initiatives by formal and informal means and identifying and implementing quality and efficiency improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement relevant standards, processes and procedures and compliance with corporate communications policies.
  • Represent the Route on relevant internal communications forums.

Your experience will include:

Essential
  • An experienced internal communications professional, you will have demonstrable experience in developing and delivering internal communications across a diverse, dispersed workforce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to write for different media.
  • Experience of working effectively with senior managers.
  • Demonstrable ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience of planning, developing and delivering measurement across a mix of channels.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Desirable
  • Educated to degree level.
  • Experience within one or more of the other corporate communications disciplines.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
