About the role

As Equipment Engineer, you will take responsibility for fast and effective equipment test, repair, and maintenance of specialised semiconductor wafer processing equipment.

The role contributes directly to the key performance indicators of the department which are: availability (uptime), MTBF (mean time between failures) and OEE (overall equipment effectiveness).

All engineers will have an area of specialism which may support a particular tool.

What you will do
  • Effectively maintain and repair wafer processing equipment and diagnose the root cause of complex problems
  • Document and implement cost effective maintenance programs by analysing, improving and inventing 'KPIs'
  • Demonstrate effective spares stock control and housekeeping practices.
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally in order to maintain and improve contacts and relationships with specialists.
  • Be flexible when the needs of the department demand it and work to improve individual and team technical motivation and competence.
  • Make effective contributions to cross-functional improvement teams.
  • Continually work to keep technical competence of self and colleagues up to date.
  • Observe health and safety directives and departmental procedures.

What you will need
  • HNC / HND or Degree qualified or equivalent
  • In depth knowledge of electronic principles and measurement
  • Good understanding of mechanical principles
  • Familiarity with semiconductors or related specialized manufacturing equipment
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern of days and nights
