I am currently working with a highly successful organisation based in South Yorkshire in the search for an experienced Procurement Manager. My client is a leading Engineering firm specialising in the design and manufacture of components for complex nuclear projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established global organisation who have recently gained major contracts in the Defence industry. Following a recent transition period they are now looking to appoint an experienced Procurement professional to strengthen their overall operation by analysing their existing supplier base, contractual agreements, current processes and strategic business plans.

The successful incumbent will demonstrate significant experience in change management in order to add value to their procurement function and implement new structure. You will be expected to roll out new policies and supplier terms where required as well as identifying areas to consolidate spend.

The role will also take responsibility for their Logistics function by ensuring customer deliveries are dispatched accordingly through coordinating schedules with manufacturing and following appropriate safety procedures at all times.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

Managing spend across multiple projects
Identify areas of improvements by monitoring and analysing the existing Procurement management system
Develop new policies and procedures to manage supplier performance
Develop new supply strategies where existing vendors are no longer competitive
Negotiate costs and terms on long term supply agreements
Ensure delivery and quality performance of suppliers through carrying out regular audits
Oversee logistics department by coordinating dispatch of customer orders
Ensure correct transport and documentation is in place for both EU and non EU deliveries
Optimise MRP system, ensuring this is fully utilised and maintained across the team

I would be interested in speaking with professional who hold the following skills and experience:

Preferably CIPS qualified or educated to Degree level
A minimum of four years' experience within a similar role in the engineering and manufacturing sector
Proven ability to implement new processes and procedures
Highly organised with excellent analytical skills
The motivation to continually identify areas of improvement and influence others
