(The role is located at the East Wales office in Llantrisant)

To support the company's growth, Persimmon is now looking to develop its Ground-Works Division Finance function through the appointment of a Company Accountant. The Ground-works Company Accountant reports to the Regional Finance Director with a dotted line to the Direct in Charge with the aim of providing accurate & timely information as is required of a major PLC group company. The team of is also responsible for all transactional processing including: payroll, supplier payments, VAT coding, GL cost allocation & payment of purchase ledger & sub-contractor ledger invoices.


Reporting to the Divisional Finance Director and supporting the business management team, the main responsibilities of the position are as follows:
  • Preparation of bi-monthly management accounts;
  • Preparation of half yearly & annual accounts together with Group Returns;
  • Preparation of budgets twice a year;
  • Preparation of 5 year strategic plans;
  • Be the Finance lead in management and technical meetings
  • Managing the Finance team
  • Willingness to deal "hands-on" with processing matters when required, assisting clerical teams as necessary.
  • Production of Ad hoc reports as required by senior management

Qualifications / Experience

Ideally you will be qualified with a recognised accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA). Experience of the house building industry or the ground-works / construction industries would be an advantage but is not essential.


The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a professional approach to the working environment, possess commercial awareness and analytical skills, and demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

You will be confident in dealing with IT systems, with strong mathematical skills and high level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, with the ability and patience to train others to a basic level.

You will have, or be willing to develop and maintain, the technical understanding of PAYE, employment law and other related regulatory areas to ensure our ongoing compliance with such legislation.
