Our client, a well-established software house, working at the forefront of .NET and mobile app technologies, is looking for a Software Support Technician to join the existing Support Team.

This vacancy offers the right candidate a great opportunity to start on an exciting career as part of a professional IT business, based primarily around Payroll and Accounting software. A majority of their staff began in Support and have progressed into Software Development or Project Management, so the role offers great scope for promotion and professional development.

Initially the successful candidate will need to acquire knowledge of the company's key software packages, for which full training will be provided.

Key Requirements for the role of Software Support Technician
· Ability to work under pressure and prioritise the workload
· Excellent internal & external communication skills
· Proactive customer-focused approach
· Self-motivated, but also capable of working as part of a team
· PC literate and competent with MS Windows & Office and experience in an IT-based role
· Logical approach to problem-solving
· A-level qualifications or equivalent, plus a minimum of grade C in English and Maths at GCSE level

Main Responsibilities for the role of Software Support Technician
· Ensure new support calls are logged within a reasonable time and the customer is kept up-to-date with progress
· Categorise and escalate queries and monitor their path through to resolution
· Resolve helpdesk queries over the phone or via email where possible and take individual responsibility for keeping up-to-date with new features in the software
· Liaise with development and third parties in order to assist with efficient call resolutions
· Assist with ad-hoc tasks relating to implementation, system maintenance and support projects

Degree level education or experience in software support, business accounting or payroll would be an advantage.
