To provide mechanical building services support and capability within Site Maintenance Services Group.

To ensure safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and enhancement of UKAEA mechanical building services plant, ensuring compliance with current legislation, codes of practice, and good practices.

To contribute to the organisational processes with an aim to deliver continuous improvement of mechanical building services and quality, safety, health and environmental standards.

This involves a wide range of organisation and co-ordination work with the building users to ensure that activities are completed in a timely manner, with minimal disruption to the building users, experimental work and associated services. This role requires the co-ordination of contractors to minimise down time on essential systems.

* Carry out the role of Contract Project Manager (CPM) for the inspection and testing of pressure systems across the whole Culham site in accordance with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000.

* Manage the pressure systems database and organise and co-ordinate system inspections with various stakeholders.

* To assist with the procurement of a range of building services projects from inception to completion, including; liaison with clients and consultants to establish requirements, production of specification and drawings, tender of works package, supervision of onsite works, agreeing variations to completion of the works and final account. Typical project values of up to £100k.

* To assist with managing the operation and maintenance of the HTHW, MTHW and LTHW boiler plant and associated heating systems on site. To ensure that the site boiler plant and heating systems are operated and maintained in compliance with the relevant statutory requirements and HSE Guidance documents. To ensure that all the planned and reactive maintenance associated with the boiler plant and the site heating systems is completed safely and on time.
* Operate the sites Trend Building Management Systems.

* Experienced and qualified to assume the role of Authorised Person (Mechanical) in relation to issuing Permits to Work on building services plant.

* A good working knowledge of health and safety requirements in mechanical building services, including the current Construction Design and Management Regulations.

* To act as Project Manager for assigned work packages, including preparation of project plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and UKAEA quality and technical control procedures.

* To take an active role in identifying energy savings opportunities and promoting energy efficiency within the Group and wider UKAEA and to implement these concepts.

* To assist with ensuring compliance with the Approved Code of Practice and guidance for Legionella control.

* There will be occasions when extended hours and weekend working will be required.

* To be part of a on call rota to cover out of working hours site emergencies.

Essential
* HNC or HND in Building Services Engineering or equivalent qualifications and/or comprehensive experience of a similar role in mechanical building services.
* Must demonstrate a record of design, operation and maintenance of mechanical building services to meet the functional, statutory and client requirements to applicable Regulations, Codes and Standards.
* Good experience of Project management within the building services industry.
* Demonstratable knowledge of the operation and maintenance of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems.
* Ability to work well with stakeholders at all levels.
* Good planning, organisational and communication skills.
* Capable of working on own initiative and within a team.
* Computer literate, use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, experience in the use of CAFM data base systems.
Desirable
* A relevant safety related qualification.
* Water Supply Regulations and Legionella Control qualification.
* Experience of operating Trend Building Management Systems
* Mechanical Authorised Persons qualification.
* Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
* Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or other computer aided design package.

Key requirements are;

* Minimum of 5 years' experience of working in mechanical building services within a commercial or industrial environment.

* Good knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations.

* Good knowledge of high temperature, medium temperature and low temperature heating systems.

* Good knowledge of hot and cold-water systems, the Water Supply Regulations and Legionella control.

* Good knowledge of chilled water systems and air conditioning.

* Good knowledge of ventilation systems.

* Some knowledge of compressed air systems.

* Good experience of project managing mechanical building services projects.

* Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
