Title: Payroll Assistant - progression into Management Accounts

Location: Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire - commutable from Watford, Aylesbury, Hemel Hempstead, Luton, Dunstable, Hitchin

Salary: £20,000 - £25,000

We are currently looking for a Payroll Assistant to join a friendly, down to earth company based in a convenient central Berkhamsted location. You will join a busy Payroll team where opportunities exist for the successful candidate to progress their career into the Management Accounts department in the future. It is likely to take 2-3 years before this happens, but the opportunities are real and will be offered to committed individuals.

The Payroll Assistant position would suit someone who has worked as a Payroll Administrator or Payroll Officer in the past and is now looking for a full time job offering a pleasant working environment and more importantly, long term career stability and career development. Alternatively, perhaps Payroll has been part of your role and you are now looking to hone your skills in the world of Finance.

Your responsibilities will include looking after external clients' payroll requirements, and as such this will also include providing a high level of customer service, where you will offer advice, guidance and moral support to business owners. You will need to know your stuff technically in order to deliver the correct information to clients whilst at the same time prioritising your workload on a daily basis. This includes, NIC, Holiday Pay, PAYE, SSP, and personal tax bandings.

The role of a Payroll Assistant / Payroll Administrator / Payroll Officer is typically very process driven, and although you will be required to be methodical in your approach to completing tasks, the key difference with this role is the people you will be working with, their inspirational personalities and their commitment to looking after employees.
