Starting in 1998 as one of the 1st UK Welfare to Work providers, our client has matched over 140,000 unemployed individuals to sustainable jobs across the UK, helped 12,000+ transition from health-related benefits into full time work, and 40,000 16-24 year-olds into jobs. Employment Advisers help individuals tackle a number of barriers from interview nerves, to debt, and housing issues. Continuing to develop individuals, and make a real change for the better in their lives, support is often delivered under challenging circumstances. That's where you come in - we need more Employment Advisers! And we need them in Croydon, Derby, Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds, Sheffield and Sutton.

Managing the relationship with the Participant and their journey through the programme, it's down to you to attract, register and progress them, to achieve placements, yes, but also develop job search skills, strategy, empowerment and confidence. You'll identify appropriate internal and external contacts to build, develop and maintains relationship as a source of referral of vacancies.

Developing strong relationships with referral organisations is key, i.e. JCP Business Managers, Work Coaches and Disability Employment Advisers (DEAs), plus you may conduct outreach activities/events/sessions at community organisations, attend job fairs and employer events etc. You'll use techniques including effective diagnosis, individual and group coaching, maximising on Participant funding available to achieve sustainable employment.

Day to day, you'll register Participants, complete Initial Assessments, understand motivations, exploring aspirations and needs. You'll identify barriers, realistic job goals and social training needs, referring to internal employability skills, mind set and employer/sector focused training courses, Health & Wellbeing advisory services etc.

And you? Coming from a fast paced, customer facing, target driven environment, you may have been an Employment Adviser, Recruitment Consultant or Holiday Rep, or, simply have generalist Business Development, sales, retail or call centre experience. Exposure of working with client groups will be advantageous, for example incapacity benefit claimants, single parents, those with criminal records, mental health groups, ex-services, specific ethnic minority or faith groups and those with specific disabilities. You'll need min 2 A-Levels or equivalent Level 3 Diploma, GCSE English Language Grade B (or equivalent Level 2 qualification), OR achievement of a Level 2 in Literacy Assessment at interview stage. A Degree or relevant qualification is beneficial, i.e. psychology, sociology, social care/science, Information Advice and Guidance NVQs (i.e. Level 3 or 4 NVQ) Brokerage Standard, Social Work qualifications or qualifications relevant to specific client groups. Fluency in community languages is a clear advantage.
