This client is a long-established manufacturer of valves for the Oil, Gas and Processing industries, operating from modern offices in Brighouse.
The company is looking to employ a Design Engineer to join their dedicated team: The role will involve new valve design as well as modification to existing designs by way of product improvement and cost down exercises utilising 3D and 2D CAD. Applications are invited form bothe experienced Design Engineers and Graduates who have completed a design office placement either as part of a sandwich degree or postgraduate.

Mechanical Design/ Design/ Pressure Vessels/Valves/ASME/API

Overall Responsibility (none exhaustive):

The preparation of General Assembly and manufacturing drawings utilising Autodesk Inventor/ Cad packages
The preparation of Bills of materials within the company's MRP system
The preparation of installation, operational and maintenance manuals
The design and development of new and existing valve products to meet both industry and customer specific specifications typically to ASME VIII, ASME B16.34, ASME B16.5, API 6A, 6D Design codes
Assisting in day to day trouble shooting and problem solving with regard to product performance
The preparation of valve factory test procedures

Mechanical Design/ Design/ Pressure Vessels/Valves/ASME/API

Required/Desirable Skills:

Broad knowledge and experience in valve design (preferred but training can be given to those who meet the other criteria)
Understanding of drawing standard BS8888 (formerly BS308)
Excellent skills in working with 2D and 3D drawing packages, ideally Autodesk Inventor (3D) and AutoCAD (2D)
The ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to work well within a team
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Packages
Experience with an ERP/MRP system
Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering

The new position is ideal for a motivated candidate with a desire to enhance his/her engineering skills within the engineering department. Experience of pressure vessel design is preferable but not mandatory as training will be given to the right candidate.
