Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Due to recent contract awards and growth of the business, a world leader in the research and development of cybersecurity are actively searching for Senior Embedded Software Engineers to join their product development capabilities team. You will define, architect, design, develop, document and test embedded and/or application software as part of a software engineering team of 5-20 engineers, working on programmes valued to several million pounds.

The company develops secure communications devices and cryptographic equipment protecting such things as the worldwide internet, credit card transactions, military platforms and personnel. Their security modules are used to help secure the Internet DNS system, and by many other commercial organizations such as Mastercard, Apple, Google, VeriSign and Shell. In addition, the company have also developed, and continue to develop next generation cryptographic products for the UK MoD and export markets involving leading edge hardware, firmware and software. Please note: Due to the nature of the projects you will be working on you must be eligible or currently hold SC or DV clearance and must be a UK national.

  • Experience of at least one of the following;
    • Embedded product development (including bare-metal and RTOSes such as ThreadX, QNX or Linux)
    • Embedded Linux application, kernel and/or driver development.
    • C and C++
  • Significant experience of best practice software development processes/lifecycles
  • Experience of Object Oriented Design and Design Patterns
  • Experience of software testing and design for test
  • Willing to undergo, and are able to achieve and maintain, SC and/or DV security clearance.

  • Experience of using version control, continuous integration and automated test tools and frameworks
  • Exposure to defensive coding techniques and standards such as MISRA
  • Advanced knowledge of software engineering practices, methodologies, processes, techniques and technology trends.
  • Experience of DOORS, RSA, Enterprise Architect, UML and SysML.
