Hours: 37.5 per week Monday to Friday, Minimum 20 days annual leave

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, forward thinking & experienced Finance Assistant to join their Accounts Department based at their Head Office in Leicester (LE4).

Their continued success comes from our commitment to product support and customer service. They now employ over 130 people and from their 13 branch locations throughout the UK and Ireland, provide a local service to their customers.

Responsibilities of the Finance Assistant:
  • Processing VAT returns
  • Producing management accounts for several smaller companies within the group
  • Entering purchase invoices onto the accounting system
  • Reconciling monthly supplier statements to our ledgers in preparation for payment
  • Processing payments using the online banking facility
  • Recording payments to suppliers on the accounting system
  • Reconciling bank accounts
  • Administering the system for sales returns and processing sales credits
  • Processing purchase returns and liaising with suppliers and internal purchasing staff
  • Managing the systems surrounding purchase debit notes
  • Liaising with the branches as necessary to resolve queries relating to purchase & sales returns
  • Processing staff expense claims
  • Processing sales invoice runs throughout the month
  • Assisting other members of the Finance team/covering for their work during periods of heavy workload & absence
  • Assisting with any other tasks necessary in the smooth functioning of the Finance Department

Requirements of the Finance Assistant:
  • At least 2 years previous experience of working in a busy Finance function
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of double entry
  • Methodical and logical approach to work
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Positive "can do" attitude
  • IT skills - good knowledge of all popular MS office functions
  • An eye for detail
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • Flexible approach to work to accommodate changing priorities of the Finance Department
