My client are an Accountancy Practice based in Maidstone. They are an ACCA accredited two partner practice with 9 other staff based on the edge of the town centre.They are looking for a Payroll Manager with previous experience running client payrolls. This is a sole role but there are members of staff who are capable to cover holidays etc.
  • They have around 130 payrolls, around 80 of which are quite straight forward two employee companies earning the same salary each month
  • The rest will be a mixture of weekly, 4 weekly, monthly payrolls
  • Most payrolls have less than 10 staff and their largest probably has around 35 staff
  • There are probably less than 10 trickier payrolls that do require some real thought and attention each month
  • They do have other members of their accounting staff who are trained for holiday cover etc
  • They would expect the candidate to largely work unaided and be in control of all aspects of running the payroll, liaising with HMRC, setting up NEST schemes, preparing CIS returns. So basically everything payroll and CIS from start to finish
  • They use Sage Payroll for payroll and Moneysoft Payroll Manager for CIS work
  • Some clients have started to use Xero Payroll and this is an area where the new person would be expected to learn in due course
