QUALITY TECHNICIAN, CONTRACT ROLE, 6+ MONTHS Chichester

Global Quality Management company is currently seeking a Hotline Quality Containment Technician for a position based in Chichester to support their client, a luxury British car manufacturer with containment and creation of containment inspection for automotive component quality issues.

Candidates must have;

- A knowledge and understanding of 8Ds (Level 0 - 4D) (up to 4D at least)

- Experience carrying out initial assessment of quality issues within a Manufacturing / production facility (ideally Auto), to establish fault / cause using quality processes such as;
  • 5 Why or Repeated Why
  • Is / Is Not
  • Problem Description/statement

- Experience in creating work instructions, (What How and Why)

Key Responsibilities & Tasks for this role:
  • Defect resolution for supplier related issues
  • Call logging and issue assessment (Valid, Invalid, Repeating and Contained)
  • Inspection of parts when necessary (inc. BIW panel cosmetics)
  • Assessment of assembly conditions (customer perception)
  • Ability to provide and create a practical and timely containments to prevent assembly stoppages and misfits
  • Compile daily report and feedback corrective action details
  • Interpret engineering drawings and models to industry/engineering standards
  • Process non-conforming parts
  • Occasionally undertake visits to suppliers to resolve quality issues
  • Prioritise tasks when in challenging situation
  • Supplier liaison on manufacturing assembly issues
  • Demonstrate good 8D/PPS problem solving skills

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in an Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality function in the Automotive industry
  • PC literate - MS Office competent (Excel essential)
  • Tenacious and investigative nature
  • Trained in problem resolution analysis (8D/PPS)
  • Have a basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC) methodology
  • Knowledge of Quality Control and Quality Assurance practices
