This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an experienced Engineer from a civil or geotechnical engineering background with strong commercial and sales abilities who is looking for an opportunity to work for a global engineering leader in their field.

Due to continued growth, new investment and a significant increase in workload across the UK, our client now has an exciting opportunity for an Area Manager to assist in their further ambitious expansion plans. This is a field / home based position covering the M40 Corridor and Ireland regions.

You will responsible for generation of sales of company products by offering solutions to clients, consultant Engineers and Contractors in all construction verticals such as civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, housebuilding, renewables etc. Sales are specification led mainly through Consultant Engineers at an early stage with the Area Manager responsible for tracking and providing support through all stages of the project until completion. You will also be expected to build relationships with merchant partners and contractors to generate specifications and sales opportunities. As part of the role you will be required to work closely with colleagues from other territories influencing their own customer base to maximise sales opportunities nationally.

The Role

·Provide thorough assessment of geographical territory identifying opportunities for sales covering all relevant market sectors developing and implementing an agreed strategy

·Communicate the benefits of products and solutions to existing and potential customers/influencers

·Support the national sales team as a whole by influencing opportunities in other territories

·Effectively convey the Company's message and offering and build specifications with Clients / consultants / contractors based around a value approach defending the specification through all stages of the project

·Give technical presentations to specifiers/customers via CPD's, workshops and seminars additionally communicating through written media such as case studies, technical papers, literature, press articles, referrals etc.

·Build strong working relationships with other departments managing sideways to co-ordinate with functions such as business development, design, customer services, product management etc. to fulfil customer requirements at all stages of the project and provide a consistently high level of support and service

·Utilise all sales tools offered by the Company to best manage opportunities and time within territory, in particular IT with a focus on CRM to accurately track and forecast projects

·Fully engage with internal functions with regards to product and process development providing feedback and market intelligence specific to the territory

·Work closely with the Technology Team to develop a successful strategy to gain wide acceptance of the design methodology and grow sales

·Attend and provide influence within relevant professional bodies such as the IGS, ICE, BGA

The Person

·A degree in a relevant field, preferably civil engineering, combined with practical working industry experience

·Strong commercial and sales abilities

·Sound understanding of contract law/risk to ensure that the company's position is protected

·Extensive experience in Civil Engineering with emphasis on geotechnical engineering

·Previous experience working as a designer/consultant would be advantageous

·Strong commercial awareness and awareness of routes to market

·Ability to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships with internal & external customers with clear and confident presentation skills

·Ability to think strategically to develop, communicate and deliver ideas and opportunities.

·Continuous personal development and wiliness to improve knowledge of relevant topics.

·Adequate computer literacy to use E-mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM systems etc.

·Capable of prioritising your own workload based on rapidly changing scenarios
