The role of Network and Infrastructure Manager is to plan, organise and manage staff and overall operations to ensure the stable operation of the organisation's IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting and optimising key functional areas, particularly network and server infrastructure, data communications and phone systems.

In the role of Network and Infrastructure Manager you will be working closely with colleagues in the IT department, senior management, end users, key project stakeholders and suppliers of IT services and solutions.

You will design and implement short and long term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements, while participating in the development of IT strategies with the IT Management team. You will also develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for infrastructure administration and project management.

This role includes a variety of duties, some of which include:
  • Conducting research and making recommendations on products, services, protocols and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
  • Interacting, negotiating and managing relationships with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure products and services.
  • Managing servers, including application, database, email, print, backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • Selecting and acquiring additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security as per the enterprise's existing procurement processes.
  • Monitoring and testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports.
  • Assisting in providing hands-on infrastructure support when required and mentoring or providing guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Ensuring network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephone equipment and other network appliances.

If you have previous experience in a line management role and experience of using server operating systems and applications including Windows 2008/2012/2016, and have a college diploma in the field of computer science, then this could be the perfect job for you. You will also need to be a Microsoft Certified IT Professional and MS Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), have knowledge of advanced computer hardware, including HP desktops and laptops and the Microsoft Surface Pro, and be proficient in Microsoft Office. Exceptional interpersonal skills, an ability to motive staff members and excellent attention to detail are also essential.
