Policy Officer - £32,500 per annum - SE London

If you are a great networker with excellent communication skills who can confidently act as a spokesperson on policy and standards this could be the role for you. My client is looking to appoint a Policy Officer with proven ability to research and write accessible, clear policy documents and reports for a range of audiences.

THE ROLE

To assist in developing and implementing policy and strategy by researching, writing and developing reports and policy documents.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To monitor policy, legislative and other developments relevant to professional
  • To undertake research and provide background briefings and
  • To research and prepare responses to external consultations.
  • To write briefings, reports, consultation documents, Council and Committee papers, material for the website and intranet, and other documents
  • To monitor and manage budgets for relevant projects
  • To assist with the development of the Policy and Standards work plan
  • To represent and promote at conferences, meetings and other events.
  • To assist in ensuring close links are established between Policy and Standards and other areas

THE PERSON
  • Educated to degree level, or with equivalent skills and knowledge
  • Proven ability to network and work appropriately with internal and external stakeholders
  • Sound working knowledge of Windows based software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail, and the internet
  • Excellent oral communication skills, able to act as a spokesperson on policy and standards issues
  • Excellent written English, with proven ability to research and write accessible, clear policy documents and reports for a range of audiences
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively as member of a team
  • Proven ability to network and work appropriately with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple individual pieces of work, and small- scale projects with ability to weigh up conflicting demands and make decisions independently when necessary
  • Ability to write and deliver presentations to different audiences
  • Sound understanding of professional regulation
