We at Ocado Remus are currently seeking an engineering operations shift leader at our research and development site in Welwyn Garden City. Working within the Engineering Central Operations team you will be responsible for the day to day running of the automated machinery including reactive and planned maintenance. You will be responsible for the day to day supervision of the shift technicians and also provide support to various teams within Remus and assist them with the development and testing of new products.

Responsibilities
  • Day to day supervision of Technicians and Engineering Operations shift teams
  • First line escalation to EOM
  • Responsible for the role out of Work Packs (upgrades/modifications to Mechanical Handling Equipment)
  • Identifying training requirements and updating training matrix
  • Produce/Maintain Safe Systems Of Work & Standard Operating Procedures
  • First line contact for all shift personnel and ADTM Managers
  • Proactive development of team members, advising, leading and motivating team members, assessing capability, identifying and resolving training and skill requirements.
  • Direction of labour, and ensure planned engineering activities meet customer expectations.
  • Working closely with the ETM, ADTM Managers
  • Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and action repairs
  • Carrying out planned/reactive maintenance across the site in an accurate, timely and safe manner ensuring maintenance procedures are followed
  • Update records of work activities, tasks carried out and parts used through stores system etc
  • Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties of equipment
  • Complete quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard
  • Work with the NPI team with implementing new products
  • Work closely with the engineering R&D team in finding ways to improve process and increase machine reliability and performance
  • Working individually or as part of a team
  • Producing a daily shift report

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • A formal qualification in an electrical or mechanical engineering subject
  • Technical ability and understanding relating to automation hardware and software
  • Experience of both reactive and preventative maintenance
  • Good time management, self-motivating
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to impart knowledge effectively to others
  • Good organisation skills, able to prioritise
  • Demonstrable analytical skills with sound problem solving ability
  • Some Management/Supervisory experience
  • Numerate and PC literate including MS Office
