Your new company
My client is a specialist FMCG organisation with a range of well-know household brands in their portfolio, sold online and in-store across the Retail sector. As a specialist in a field of consumer product, they work with a range of large brands with incredible reach and customer engagement; and due to a recent merger they have some firm backing and support as part of a larger group of brands.

Your new role
As Graphic Designer, your job is to work with marketing, product, engineering and QA groups to consult, design and project manage all packaging elements from conception through to production, as well as some elements of other branding and design requirements. This role is majority focused on the design and delivery of packaging designs, therefore you will work with vendors to resolve design and manufacturing issues and control pack design to maintain product cost, focus and schedule.
On a day-to-day basis, you will brainstorm and research initial concepts, understand and interpret briefs from the product design and marketing departments, and provide written briefs for artwork, illustrations, photography and translations. With responsibility for project managing packaging design, you will also negotiate competitive costs for all outsourced artwork, mock-ups, pack construction, illustrations, translations and photography of proofs / layouts /final print runs, as well as creating your own informed, researched, creative and informative designs with the core customer group in mind.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced designer with demonstrable work and creative background to showcase your capabilities. You must have experience with packaging design, within a retail/FMCG environment, and understand working with external suppliers and licensors. An interest in pack structure would be very beneficial as well as a thorough understanding of graphic design layout, art direction and a knowledge of current graphic software. A good understanding of current production techniques is critical. As with all project management positions, excellent communication skills, written and oral, are essential. Please note this is a Mac-based role.

What you'll get in return
You will receive a salary of between £22,000 - £26,000, depending on experience.
