IT Contracts Manager - Redbridge Council - £51,450 - £54,597

With a spend on IT contracts and services of over £3 million per annum, it is essential that Redbridge council maximises the benefit to our residents and businesses of this expenditure. In this new role you will have the opportunity to help establish how we will get value for money and excellent service from our suppliers. You will be involved in negotiating new and renegotiating existing contracts, monitoring supplier performance and ensuring that we never allow our suppliers to become complacent in their provision of services. You will need to understand the requirements of our internal customers and held them identify how those requirements can be met, and how services can be adjusted to ensure that they continue to meet our needs. You will know how to drive a hard bargain and will take steps to ensure that Redbridge is getting as good or better a deal in its IT spending as any other part of the public sector.

Overall Role Purpose:
  • To gets the best possible value for the council from its purchases of IT contracts and services.
  • To monitor performance of contracts and to hold suppliers to account for under-performance.
  • To identify new opportunities for reducing cost or improving outcomes of IT services through better use of the IT market.

Role Context:

The Contract Manager will address IT contracting issues on behalf of the council as a whole. They will work closely with the commissioners and customers of IT service contracts to identify competent suppliers, desired outcomes and appropriate KPIs, supporting the development of good working relationships between the council and its partners.

You need to have:

- Sound commercial contract management experience, gained in the public or private sectors

- A broad understanding of Microsoft environments in large, complex organisations

- Experience of writing ITTs and evaluating supplier proposals

- Techniques for contract and supplier management to bring to the council to achieve a step-change in the effectiveness of our contract management
