If you have found yourself leading a team without being recognised as a leader or wish that you had more impact over decisions affecting your site, then read on...

Let's face it, we've all been there. Taking on more and more responsibilities at work without the recognition or promotion you've been looking for.

You may have been finding yourself naturally leading your shift on site, mentoring or training junior members of the team on top of your other duties. The Shift Managers come to you first, not your manager, as they respect your knowledge and experience of the site and equipment.

Perhaps you've cast the net out for new opportunities, but most 'Site Manager' roles have been overseeing massive sites and teams, "requiring x number of years' of operational management experience", which, quite frankly, scared you off from applying to them.

Does this resonate with you? If so, we're currently looking for a Site Engineering Manager to manage a brand new automated site for Hachette, one of the largest educational and trade publishers in the world.

Having gone live last year, TGW has worked closely with Hachette to steadily increase the operating levels (now at 50%) of the automated materials handling solution, improving the efficiency of the automated solution.

That said, there's still a ways to go yet and you'll take responsibility for moving the site to 100% operating levels. Hachette's distribution services cover over 45 publishers, shipping 60 million books globally every year, so it's no small undertaking!

TGW's Resident Engineering team, whose responsibility is for maintaining, servicing and continuously improving the automated solution, now numbers 5 in total (3x Engineers, 2x Technicians). You'll be responsible for managing the team's development, training, recruitment and acting as a key escalation point.

As you'll be operating on Hachette's site, you'll build upon the existing relationship with the client. This will suit you to a tee if you're used to acting in a consultative approach, advising the client on best practice and pushing back if required.

The hours of work will be Monday-Friday covering 09:00-17:30, with the flexibility to cover other shifts when required.

About you:
  • Multi-skilled background, preferably holding a minimum qualification of an ONC/HNC or full BTEC in an engineering discipline
  • Prior experience within an automated material handling environment
  • Previous team lead/supervisory experience.
  • Strong IT literacy, with experience in SCADA, CMMS, and carrying out low-level WCS investigations.
  • Proven experience of working with and to quality and health & safety standards.

What are you waiting for? Hit 'apply now' and let's start the conversation.
