Job Overview: We have been retained by our client who are seeking a Project Engineer for their established manufacturer specialising in automotive components. This role will suit someone with existing experience working as a Project Engineer within the automotive manufacturing industry.

Duties:

As Project Engineer, you will be developed & trained to control automotive related projects and learn to liaise with automotive customers. You will have some knowledge & exposure to automotive quality and/or projects as an 'assistant' and not directly responsible. As Project Engineer some knowledge of automotive quality tools would be an advantage (8D, ISAKAWA, 5Whys etc), as would any knowledge of system such as ISO/TS, IATF 16949, but not a must have as full training will be provided.

Your remit upon ongoing training & development, will be as follows:

·Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned projects

·Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA policies, performance standards and specifications

·Interact daily with the customers to interpret their needs and requirements

·Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans,) and report weekly on project status

·Assign responsibilities and mentor project team using PFU style documents

·Cooperate and communicate effectively with project development manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support

·Review project deliverables as defined in the customers overall timing plan and initiate appropriate corrective actions with timings where necessary

·Take ownership and responsibility for arranging all internal trials and R&R's with the relevant customer

·Ensure all customer milestones are met in a timely manner

·Communicate fully with the plant and all members to enable the new projects to be understood in advance

·Use visual displays for all projects so everyone is able to see the timing and current status of every project vs the customers' expectations

Improvements:

·General Kaizen and process improvements for safety, time and speed

Qualification/skills "nice to haves":

·Project Management including timing plan creation and monitoring of external suppliers timing plans, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures e.g. Injection moulding and related assembly methodology

·Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills e.g. PFMEA, Control Plans and Work Instructions

·Project documentation skills e.g. PPAP, PSW & APQP

·CAD knowledge advantageous

·Ability to read 2D drawings

·Ability to input design ideas for checking fixture and holding fixtures and confirm them once produced

·MSA knowledge would be beneficial

·Capability study knowledge Cp/Cpk

·Minimum Mathematics to GCSE or equivalent

·Minimum English to GCSE or equivalent

·Minimum of 1 Science to GCSE or equivalent

·Microsoft Office at an intermediate to advanced level
