Job Description As a Coordinator of Mintlaw Out of School Club (Oscars) you will be responsible for daily management and delivery of a quality service to primary school age children and their families in line with the relevant legislation, regulation, guidance and policy. We want the club to provide activities chosen and led by children with support from a professional staff team. Through play and participating in activities, children should be supported to learn, explore, create, investigate, build relationships, develop, learn new skills and have fun. You should ensure that children have positive experiences through a variety of activities in and out of doors. Responsibilities of this role include working closely with parents and carers, school staff and employees of other agencies, both inside and outside of Council to provide a stimulating environment for children's play and learning with a continuous improvement in mind. You will have an oversight of all aspects of the provision, ensuring that the Club is a safe and fun place to be where the care provided answers the needs of the children. You will lead and manage a team of Playworkers and need to have an understanding of the importance of learning, development and reflection for strong practice and culture of the play provision. This position requires you to have knowledge of Care Inspectorate, Scottish Social Services Council and GIRFEC. The Club's opening hours are Monday to Friday, 2.45-6pm, only during pupils' term days (38 weeks a year). This role is contracted for 20 hours a week, and 39 weeks a year (to include pupils' term days and designated in-service days). Due to the nature of the service and the demands it presents there is a need to show a degree of flexibility with regards to working time. This role requires a registration with SSSC as a Manager in the Day Care of Children register. We would expect you to either have or be committed to obtaining the required qualification for maintaining the registration.This post will require you to have obtained SSSC registration within 6 months of employment. Requirements This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
