Paralegal - Tax, Share Incentives and Private Client - 6 Months contract

Main purpose of the role: This is a 6 month fixed term contract working for PSL Tax, PSL Share Incentives and PSL Private Client (Tax sector modules) to help develop and maintain core content for the modules.

As part of maintenance of the product you are expected to carry out legal research, monitor external and internal sources of new, cases and legislation and action any consequent amendments under the supervision and guidance of the Professional Support Lawyers (PSLs) for each Tax sector module.

Your work on core content for the tax sector modules will include reviewing new and existing content across the modules for quality and legal accuracy, as well as developing new and existing practical guidance content.

Duties and responsibilities:

Helping to respond to LexisAsk queries in relation the Tax sector modules by conducting legal research and liaising with the subject matter experts within PSL practice area teams.

Work on initiatives and process to help ensure the smooth running of the Tax Sector modules including web-watching, and monitoring internal sources, maintaining case and news trackers in accordance with guidance given by the PSLs

Working closely with the Tax, Share Incentives and Private Client PSLs and the content acquisition team to commission and draft practical guidance.

This work will include:
  • Reviewing new and existing content for quality and legal accuracy.
  • Drafting case analysis, practice notes and precedent content.
  • Collaborating with external authors regarding externally written content.
  • Assisting with strategic reviews of the content to ensure that the modules are continuously evolving to meet customer needs
  • Having input into the development of technical solutions with our product teams, to ensure that we are delivering guidance in the most efficient way possible.
  • Undertaking the administration tasks needed to ensure that the Tax, Share incentives and Private Client Consulting Editorial Boards operate effectively including arranging meetings, telephone calls, taking minutes and organising effective communication between the members
  • Supporting the Tax, Share incentives and Private Client PSLs with Go To Market and other marketing initiatives including assisting in updating marketing collateral, providing content suggestions for the Tax, Share incentives and Private Client Newsletters, attending the Tax sector modules' Steering meetings and actioning any matters arising

Essential skills:
  • Law degree/GDL.
  • Excellent academic qualifications and legal research and writing skills.
  • Experience working in Private Practice/In-house, supporting fee earners with legal research to conduct the day to day running of cases.
  • Good understanding of legal issues and procedures, eg precedents.
  • Ability to prioritise work through guidance from rest of the team to ensure expectations are managed. In addition, good communication skills are also essential.
  • Good technology skills.
  • Clear succinct writing style, ability to adapt to LN house style.
  • Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and team player.
  • Ability to deal with stakeholders at every level, including lawyers, contributors, sales teams etc.

Desirable skills:
  • LPC/BVC.
  • Studied law in some/all of the particular practice areas.
  • Exposure to Tax or Private Client Law
  • Willingness to use, and understanding of, social media and new technology.
  • Editorial experience.
