What's the role?

As a Principal Scripting Engineer you will develop and maintain the scripting requirements in line with the objectives of the business. Assist with the definition and embedding of a consistent set of processes and measures across all key interfaces.

What will you be doing?
  • Automation and scripting of manual tasks to embed efficiencies into the business. Develop and maintain the scripting requirements in line with the objectives of the business.
  • Assisting with the definition, and embedding of a consistent set of processes and measures across all key interfaces including the Customer Services teams, Technology and Platforms teams and Service Management teams.
  • Establish and manage a set of measures covering issues identified from investigations in to platform feasibility and the presentation of findings in to Service and Customer stakeholders.
  • Be a key stakeholder in the governance of the UK script environment. Where required support the transition of new technologies, services and solutions into Operations.

Most of the work will be standard office hours

What's needed?

To be successful in the role you will either have strong scripting/coding experience

including Bash, Perl, Python, etc. OR experience in a 2nd/3rd line network environment with an interest in scripting and automation.

Ideally, you will have the following Technical Knowledge
  • Good knowledge of coding languages including: Korn Shell/Bash, Perl, Python and Expect
  • Conversant in the use of vi.
  • Expert MS Office knowledge particularly in Excel macros'.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of HTML, Javascript, PHP, PL/SQL or AJAX
  • 2nd/3rd line network experience
  • CCNA
  • Web Development Skills (able to produce web reports from SQL databases etc)
  • API knowledge
  • Unix / Linux Admin experience
