Deputy Nursery Manager - Maternity Cover

Salary £24k - £27k

Initially fixed term maternity cover with scope to go permanent or move internally as we are constantly growing.

We are looking for a strong and dynamic Deputy Nursery Manager for this unique nursery. Our nursery is a forward thinking and exciting setting, focusing on everything natural, offering a new type of childcare for families in London with outdoor learning being our favourite things. We educate and care for children aged from 2 to 5, following the core Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, incorporating learning in an outdoor environment where free play, fresh air, exposure to the natural world and physical activity are an integral part of learning.

The Nursery Directors are actively involved within the nursery and is looking for a special someone to lead the business.

Our ideal candidate will:
  • Hold a Level 3 childcare or above qualification
  • Have a proven track record and at least 3 years' managerial experience
  • Have a love for the outdoors
  • Supervise, observe, mentor and support children aged 2-5
  • Possess an excellent knowledge of OFSTED requirements and had experience of inspections
  • Have a real love and drive for working with and educating children
  • Hold relevant Safeguarding Qualifications
  • Effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interest of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members)
  • Manage the site set-up including; carrying out a risk assessment, ensuring logistics are communicated e.g. ensuring food/snacks, activities and walk-outs are done in time
  • Be happy to up-skill and improve their own learning and that of others
  • Ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children; having an awareness of any disabilities, family cultures and medical histories
  • Be responsible for and lead all site visits
  • Manage the site including changing of waterproof clothes of children, dinner,
  • Believe in a strong Parent Partnership in order to provide cohesive learning to our children
  • Support practitioners to record and track their key children's development and learning journeys, and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child's life
  • Be highly organised with great time management skills
  • Have a great personality

Desirable candidate skills:
  • EYT or EYP qualification
  • Forest School Teacher qualification
  • Experience of working in a nursery/private day care setting as either a Deputy Nursery Manager or similar
  • Minimum of 3 year's post qualification experience
  • Preferable experience within outdoor education environment (desirable)
  • Ability to develop robust policies and procedures to support quality childcare
  • To plan and deliver effective daily management of the nursery, in accordance with Company policy, all relevant legislation, plus local authority and OFSTED requirements.
  • To ensure the provision is of the highest quality; providing a safe, stimulating and caring child-centred environment catering for the children's educational and developmental needs.
  • To ensure that all agreed quality and safety standards are always maintained in the nursery.
  • Take responsibility for the recruitment and overall management of all childcare and other team members.
  • To liaise closely with parents/carers to ensure high levels of involvement and customer satisfaction always.

Role Deputy Nursery Manager

Hours: 40 hours per week

Terms: Permanent role with a 3 months probationary period Reports to: Head of Operations

Experience:
  • Childcare: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Management: 2- 3 years (Preferred)

Licence:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or above
