Functional Skills Manager - Huddersfield - Full-Time & Permanent - £24,000

Are you an experienced Manager within Apprenticeships or AEB? Do you have experience of teaching functional skills? Are you looking to help the minds of tomorrow?

A role has become available with a Skills provider in West Yorkshire who deliver under the Adult Education Budget, as well as Apprenticeship Skills Training. They are currently expanding their team and are looking for a Functional Skills Manager. The post holder is responsible for managing the Functional Skills in achieving the objectives that are set by the Operations Manager in line with the overarching Company objectives. The Functional Skills Manager will play a key role in driving learner achievement, ensuring that a quality learner experience is provided by the team and achieving a first-time pass rates of 80% or both overall and timely achievement. The Functional Skills Manager will ensure that all paperwork is completed in line with company policy and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years' solid experience within a similar role.

Previous experience and attainment of a Teaching qualification such as PTLLS is desirable (all equivalent qualifications also considered). You must be knowledgeable within your sector and be confident to manage a team of experienced tutors.

Your specific responsibilities will include:
  • Manage, support and mentor the Functional Skills team
  • To manage all Functional Skills and ESOL delivery and quality assurance all Functional Skills and ESOL both on Apprenticeship and AEB
  • To lead on tracking of learner progress in conjunction with Functional Skills tutors, ESOL tutors and CCT teams, keeping accurate records of agreed actions
  • Lead and take responsibility of all EQA visits within your department and ensuring all awarding body organisation requirements are met
  • Moderate progress reviews ensuring that planning has taken place
  • To build and maintain employer relationships including regular requests for feedback, supporting the Functional Skills and ESOL delivery and dealing with issues
  • Ensure regular contact is maintained with Functional Skills and ESOL staff including tracking, support and performance management.
