We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Asset Planning Engineer within our Asset Management Bustiness Unit.

Network Asset Planning Engineer

Salary: £32,912 to £41,140 dependent on experience + quarterly bonus + car/car allowance + pension + 25 days holiday.

Location: The role will be located at Temple Park, Leeds

Purpose of the role

To support the management of operational assets and development of capital project by:

· Delivering excellent Operational Asset Management in a planned and proactive way to achieve world class asset management
· Delivering up front planning for development of capital delivery and operational projects, acting as Project Sponsor.
· Manage strategic operational and asset risks, identify opportunities and drive their resolution through the Asset Management Programme.
· Responsible for developing defined and enhanced solutions based on system / drainage / catchment areas for all assets.
· Responsible for delivering the right outcomes for the company and customer through analysis, interpretation and visualisation of asset risks to aid decision making and to bring value to all asset interventions. Providing forecasts / evidence of impact on Performance Commitments to achieve resolution / mitigation of service risks
· Lead investigations, optimisation, option appraisal and solution interventions to steer delivery of Kelda's Performance Commitments.
· Working closely with a variety of teams across Yorkshire Water, you will inform and advantageously implement strategies for our key investment areas.
· Ensuring operational excellence across all assets in relation to Health & Safety, regulatory and statutory compliance, risk management, innovation and outperformance.

Key Accountabilities

· Conduct proactive asset investigations and audits to provide detailed information on asset condition for asset planning activity.
· Promote business asset risks using the Business Risk Model for optimised and timely interventions. Collaborative working with Asset Management within the Capital Delivery Model to develop and build collective asset intelligence and options for the business to manage risk.
· Act as the Project Sponsor, fulfilling duties as Sponsor in the Capital Delivery Model and for operational projects.
· Through defined solutions, deliver sustainable improved asset performance and reliability enabling value and significant outperformance.
· Defining whole asset solutions (source to sea) based on a holistic approach to support strategic outcomes and enabling asset performance to be maximised with a totex approach.
· Contribute to the review and methodology for managing and improving data used for the analysis of all asset risks.
· Develop processes to integrate risk interpretation in to the management of the assets including linking assets within systems and catchments and across the region building on asset care plans.
· Prepare system overviews for all known risks and performance measures for presentation to the Asset Management Leadership Team and BCIC.
· Enable all risks to be linked to sustainable outcomes through performance commitments including SIM, serviceability and all other Regulatory and statutory measures.
· Review the outputs of analysis on asset and investment risk and to identify essential action and improvement opportunity.
· Work collaboratively with the Asset Strategy team providing technical input to form future Price Reviews.

Knowledge and Skills Required


· Qualification in an engineering or technical discipline working towards professional status (competent at professional status or membership)
· Demonstrated understanding of risk management processes and experience in implementation of these.
· Experience in asset management and defining asset solutions.
· Develops and maintains effective internal and external relationships.
· Technical understanding of assets and how their performance and purpose links to Service Delivery, Performance Commitments and Safe and Reliable assets.
· Technical understanding to define and develop solutions to risk and asset plan outcomes.
· Experience in root cause, event and / or risk analysis
· Ability to produce outcome risk reports to support the prioritisation and programming of the investment for all assets
· Understanding of asset risks and ability to link these to programme risk through the end-to-end process.
· Strategic ability to manage and undertake the process to identify opportunities for a source to sea intervention approach for resolving service risks.


· Experience within the asset management and regulatory arena.
· Knowledge of investment management processes and contractual approaches.
· Experience of risk and value techniques.
· Knowledge of statistical analysis tools.
· CDM experience
· Financial management and feasibility / investigation projects experience
