My client is a fast growing Leeds based company that provide highly trained personnel and equipment for every size of project. They are now looking to recruit a full time Accounts assistant to help create a small finance team. You will be reporting to the Financial Controller.

Primary responsibilities

Processing daily income and banking

Reconciling bank statements

Registering purchase invoices and advice notes and arranging clearance from relevant the department

Inputting purchase invoices/credit notes

Raising sales invoices/credit notes and issuing to clients along with POD's

Preparing and issuing payments to suppliers

Checking nominal analysis codes

Contacting customers and suppliers by telephone and letter

Dealing with customers in relation to credit control

Updating customer/supplier contacts on the database

Issuing monthly statements whether by email or letter

Dealing with general enquires relating to the accounts

Generating and dealing with HMRC VAT returns

Producing a monthly cash book and reconciling all accounts

Dealing with the accounts monthly and yearly period ends

Liaising with the external company accountant

Dealing with the weekly payroll which will involve preparing and running the payroll from beginning to end

Having an understanding of statutory regulations e.g. SMP, SSP

Dealing with HMRC with regards weekly RTI and monthly NI returns

Dealing with weekly pension submissions

Dealing with CIS returns

Candidate Profile

Relevant experience

Must have experience in an accounts and payroll role with a broad knowledge of all accounting/payroll processes- knowledge of Access a bonus.

Good level of IT literacy

Positive attitude and capable of taking ownership of tasks

Analytical and able to challenge existing process to look for improvements
