Due to a recent contract award we are seeking qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner's within the East Leicestershire region, offering a great opportunity to have a portfolio career in a variety of settings.
The post holder will be responsible for the autonomous clinical assessment, treatment and/or referral or giving advice as appropriate to first contact patients cross a wide spectrum of clinical conditions within the services provided by DHU Health Care CIC through direct contact consultations and by telephone. Direct consultations will be undertaken in the patient's normal place of residence, with occasional working in clinic settings.
Key Responsibilities
  • To practice as an advanced nurse practitioner without direct supervision providing a clinical service within the work of the company.
  • To assess, plan, treat and refer appropriately patients requiring the clinical service and evaluate patient care as appropriate
  • To recognise the need for, initiate and where appropriate, interpret relevant diagnostic investigations.
  • To prescribe medication and work within the limitations of current extended Non Medical Prescribing legislation.
  • To maintain an awareness of developments in clinical practice.
  • To optimise evidence based practice within practice.
  • To work effectively as part of a multi professional team in collaboration with other members of the service.
  • To participate in the clinical governance requirements within the work of the organisation
  • To provide mentorship leadership and training to other team members;
  • To participate in research and development activities of DHU Health Care.
  • To participate in the clinical supervision framework for nurses within the company;
  • To offer appropriate advice to nurses and other professions on care practices, delivery and service development within the parameters of the role and scope of practice;
  • To mentor and role model as appropriate in the development of nurse triage consultation and the mentorship of associate nurse practitioners.
Person Specification
  • First level registered nurse;
  • Substantial autonomous practice experience supported by the appropriate post registration qualification at minimal of x2 Msc level modules or a full Msc
  • Evidence of substantial experience using advanced clinical examination and assessment skills within practice supported by the appropriate post registration qualification;
  • Has successfully completed a course leading to the independent non-medical prescribing qualification.
  • Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions distinguishing any differential diagnoses in primary care in both adults and children or all ages;
  • Has experience in nurse-led clinics or emergency care centres, out of hours facilities or urgent/walk in centres;
  • Substantial experience as an independent non-medical prescriber and is aware of current legislation governing practice.

  • Can give evidence of using effective communication skills within practice;
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills;
  • Computer literate;
  • Ability to identify individual client needs;
  • Counselling and communication skills;
  • Facilitation and negotiation skills;
  • Skills in prescribing medication as a non-medical prescriber;
Other
  • Commitment to the role. Able to work unsocial hours including bank holidays;
  • Flexibility to meet service/rota needs;
  • Be prepared to travel between different sites when required;
  • Full driving licence and use of a vehicle.
