Waters Corporation is currently seeking a European Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager to support research and demonstration laboratories plus manufacturing at our sites throughout Europe. As the European HSE Manager, you will be a member of the HSE Management Council as well as a key player to develop, implement and monitor general health, safety and environmental programs. The EU HSE Manager will ensure that sites are meeting local regulations and maintain health, safety and environmental compliance in the areas in which Waters does business. The total area of responsibility includes EU countries, the UK, Norway, Switzerland and India. You will work with Site Mangers and HSE Coordinators to ensure all sites have local representation. The HSE team will consist of the HSE Coordinators, not direct reports and of personnel at two main manufacturing sites in Wexford Ireland and Wilmslow UK. We provide you with opportutnity to travel within the territory and Waters headquarters so that you can connect with the local team and conduct effective meetings.


Proactively manage health, safety and environmental compliance and related continuous improvement programsDrive culture change that ensures that health, safety and environmental opportunities are embraced throughout the varied activities that support the businessEnsure that local licenses and permit requirements; air, wastewater, hazardous waste and stormwater pollution prevention are obtained and maintained at the local level working with Site Managers and HSE CoordinatorsDevelop and promote health, safety and environmental programs, awareness and HSE culture in labs, in manufacturing for Waters personnel and site visitors. Liaise with Site Managers to ensure health, safety and environmental documentation is up to date. As well ensure that required reporting is accomplished to meet all regulations, and requirements within the company. Conduct audits to ensure statutory compliance and Company standards are maintainedSupport conducting job hazard analyses and personal protective equipment assessmentsParticipate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and support and documentation of corrective actionsOversee the maintenance and reporting on accident, incident and near miss statistics highlighting data trends within Europe and identify mitigation activities Guide HSE training and maintenance of associated training records throughout the regionPrepare sites to drive programs that would focus on customer and other stakeholder requested items or value add certifications


Required Qualifications of the Site Manager:Experience in an HSE role in an industrial or laboratory settingBachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related fieldKnowledge of EU regulations and compliance requirementsDemonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate and recommend controls for workplace hazardsDemonstrated ability to execute work assignment and perform duties with or without direct supervisionDemonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills; strong attention to detailSuperior communications, interpersonal, and organizational skillsAbility to work within and control a budget to meet both direct business and financial objectivesAbility to influence others, lead from a not local presence and to work in a team environment to ensure timely completion of HSE activities Demonstrated ability to lead programs to completion in the face of opposition and or not perfect circumstances Ability to manage multiple priorities and to adapt and learn in a changing work environmentPreferred Qualifications of the European HSE Manager:IEMA, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferredExperience with environmental permitting, hazardous waste management and interpretation of regulationsExperience leading health and safety initiativesExperience with program development and implementation of new or changing regulationsDemonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, HSE management software and SAP
