Are you an experienced Maintenance Assistant / Caretaker looking for a new role with an immediate start?

One of our large colleges based in the Romford area are currently seeking a Facilities and Maintenance Assistant to start a temporary 3-month period starting as soon as possible and will likely result in a permanent contract for the right member of staff.

The College operates a shift system for the FMAs and the intended shift for this position is 10.00-18.00, with the requirement to cover the evening shift (14.00-22.00) during periods of absence.

Duties will include:

  • Arrange access to buildings/rooms for all contractors, and supervise contractors as necessary whilst those contractors are working on the College premises.
  • Take responsibility for monitoring the premises; reporting issues to the Estates helpdesk; carry out work to remedy issues identified.
  • Undertake painting, decorating, plumbing and carpentry tasks as required.
  • Log and report any breakages or damage to any item and carry out repairs and maintenance work to a safe standard.
  • Change light bulbs/tubes as necessary. Clean light fittings when required.
  • Carry out building repairs and maintenance in line with competence.

Ideally you will have:

  • A current electrical qualification is not a requirement for the role, however the College is looking to cover electrical maintenance and a qualification would be viewed beneficially.

  • Experience as a Caretaker/ Maintenance Assistant
