Service Engineers (CHP/Gen-Sets)

£34,000 + standby & overtime payments

The role is to follow a preventative maintenance schedule (as opposed to reactive maintenance) of up to fifteen assigned client units that you will take ‘ownership’ of working on a wide range of CHP gas engines and associated equipment with a view to maximise plant availability and optimising the efficiency of unit operation. You will work with minimum supervision although a proper induction will be given on joining, ‘doubling up’ on client sites until you are happy to be released into the field on your own working a 37.5 hour week with early starts so you are home for tea (will suit those with family commitments) and a weekend call-out that pays £100 per day for standby (normally just being able to take a call) and If you attend a job whilst being on call, traditional overtime rates apply.

Would suit someone apprentice served with C&G certificates or ONC in a mechanical or electrical discipline with mechanical/electrical or electrical mechanical bias skill set with experience of combustion engines, either spark or compression ignition to work on gas fuelled independent power generation units that capture waste heat (heat exchangers) and provide base load power. (Gas Safe qualification would be an advantage).

Ideally already experienced with CHP service & maintenance routines but ideal candidates would be Generator Mechanics or those from the Navy (RN), Plant or Construction Mechanics, HGV Mechanics, Crane Engineers, Roadside Technicians, REME Workshops, Aviation Ground Support, Compressor/Pump Engineers etc. – anyone who has serviced reciprocating engines with logical fault finding abilities who can work safely in a control panel, use a laptop for diagnostics to perform fuel trim and ideally some exposure to Programmable Logic Programmers (PLC’s) desired.

This is an opportunity to work for a large Environmental Group who actively promote internal promotions within the group or within the department you will be joining. You will require a current DL with no more than 6 penalty points and comfortable working on your own but within a team environment who can be an ambassador for the company on client sites ranging from Hotels, Hospitals, Leisure Centres to industrial manufacturing sites.

Experience will always outweigh formal qualifications as the ability to perform the role is the most important factor. Please forward your CV in complete confidence as no approaches will be made to my client without your express permission & consent and once I have your details I will respond personally within 24-hours.

Ideal home locations: Manchester, Preston, Liverpool
