It’s about ensuring that our electricity transmission network is able to connect the energy generated by power stations, wind and solar farms to where it’s needed, whilst our gas transmission network is working effectively.We bring together all the major digging, tunnelling, excavating, overhead line and cabling work for our large gas and electricity transmission projects. It’s incredibly diverse and challenging construction work – from the creation of new 400kV circuits at the heart of London’s electricity network to the installation of state-of-the-art security to protect our operationally critical sites.About the roleOur team provide construction planning expertise for our electricity, gas, major projects and security construction projects.It will be your role to develop and implement efficient end to end programmes, including critical path and total float analysis, earned value management techniques, and leading indicators for risk mitigation to ensure successful delivery of our projects.You will:Support the Capital Delivery contracts team to consistently evaluate tender returns within procurement guidelinesDuring delivery support the Project Manager to certify that all subsequent contractor programmes are compliant to the NEC and works informationProvide the Project Manager with recommendations following month end analysis, which assist key making timely decisions for corrective actionCarry out impact assessments of early warnings or change events either from our supply chain or Project ManagerAssess and validate supply chain progress during design and attend site during delivery to confirm construction progressContinuously review and improve processes by raising innovative solutions to drive value and establish best practice planning and project controlsAbout you3-5 years planning experience preferably in the construction industryProven experience of using planning tools i.e. Primavera, Microsoft Project or similarSkills in Project Management, Risk Management, Change Management or Cost Management are desirable but not essentialExperience in delivery of projects during construction during civils installationCapability to assess change and impact assessment on time risk allowance and forensic analysisGood understanding of written and spoken English is essentialIt is essential to have a current full UK driving licenceWho we areAt National Grid, we don’t just ask our people to deliver to the highest standards.
