Robertson Bell are supporting a renowned private school in Croydon in the recruitment of a Finance Manager.

The school is going through an exciting period of growth which presents a unique and exciting opportunity in this role to get involved with; such as a £7m capital build programme, redesign of the management accounts and a full review of their transactional outsource model with a view to bring in house amongst these.

Reporting into the School Bursar, this well-rounded role is responsible for the provision of an effective financial control and reporting function to the School, funds, trusts and subsidiaries companies. Day to day responsibilities will include but are not restricted to:

*Production of management accounts, annual budget setting process and provision of this information where necessary to the School senior management team and governors.
*The preparation yearend accounts and liaising with external auditors.
*Assist in the development of cash flow strategies to ensure the security of the school's financial position and provide updates in relation to capital projects.
*Oversight of fees ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations, journal and nominal ledger administration, payroll admin, petty cash, VAT calculations, accounting for charity funds.
*Monitor contracts for various tenders and agreements that the school currently has in place and those they may want to introduce in the future.
*Line management of one direct report and indirect support to the wider school team (circa 15)

This is forward facing role that requires the post holder to communicate regularly with all stakeholders, ensuring the efficient and effective overall management of the school. This is the perfect role for someone looking to step into a wide-ranging finance position but have day to day involvement in the running of other aspects of corporate services and the running of a school.

The successful candidate will be a qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) accountant that has strong experience in the production of management accounts, statutory reporting and other areas of transactional finance. It is essential you are comfortable managing and in directly leading teams with the ability to build relationships with management and stakeholders in a warm approachable but challenging manner.
