SEN Teaching Assistants
An outstanding SEN school in Lambeth is recruiting a number of experienced teaching assistants to start in September 2019. Positons are for the full academic year, until July 2020. These are full time positions, working 8.15am-4pm.
The school caters for students aged 9-19 years old with an ECHP for Autism, social, communication and learning difficulties. Classes are based on individual needs, and the school aims to provide a creative and practical curriculum accessible to all. As well as providing a varied curriculum, there is also a strong emphasis on citizenship and developing life skills.
The selected applicants will support students on a 1:1 and group basis. You will support students in lessons, as well as at lunch and/or at break. You will be directed by the class teacher and therapists/specialist staff at the school. The main skills required will be resilience, consistency and the ability to build good relationships. Previous experience within an SEN school would be advantageous. As well as supporting students academically, you will also work on self-esteem and social skills.
