We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family owned company, that is at the forefront of developing clinical software throughout the UK. Our client is currently looking for a Data Migration Engineer, to become the newest member their team based in Bodmin- a fantastic location with quick access to the picturesque beaches of Cornwall and a short distance from Plymouth City Centre.

Job Outline
Working with both technical and non-technical members of the agile teams, the role will be to develop and maintain effective solutions to support any data migration or transformation process.

Key tasks
* Contribute simultaneously on different projects with little impact due to context switching. Utilising dead times and or blocks in projects.
* Assisting with the transformation and manipulation of data in order to transfer data between computer solutions.
* Assisting with the design of data structures for optimal storage, creation, retrieval or data mining.
* Reading and understanding existing code.
* Debugging software and databases with different tools
* Performing data analysis
* Assisting in writing production quality robust code and understands interaction within the larger system not in isolation.
* Reporting progress on development at daily stand-ups and escalating issues or slippage in a timely fashion, identifying remedial action to keep the project on track
*Demonstrating a logical and structured approach to time management and task prioritisation to work within project timelines.
* Keeping abreast of industry developments and technologies and interacting with other team members to improve skills
* Managing source code and version control using GIT
* Working independently or in conjunction with other developers as the work requires. Participating fully in team planning and working with colleagues to continuously improve the team's performance
* Creating and maintaining strong working relationships with other members of the data team and the wider technology organisation
* Dedicated to learning and progressing to a more senior position.

Knowledge and Skills
* Successful candidates will need; SQL Experience with demonstrable skills in analysing and developing complex SQL queries,
* Have an understanding in software development (C++, C#, JS) and or mathematics, either by training or experience,
* Have an understanding of common database technologies.
* Experience in preparing system documents, use cases, test cases and other documentation
* Clear verbal and written communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical personnel in different units
* The ability to work in a collaborative environment (e.g., collaborate with team members, users and back-end programmers)
* Have good exposure to DBA skills for MySQL
* Experience with MySQL database design & architecture, administration, implementation and management
* Experience with data migration, data conversion, database upgrades, physical modelling, schema designs
* Familiarity with Linux administration would be an advantage
* To be highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
* Experience with working in an Agile software development environment.
* Good analytical and problem-solving/troubleshooting abilities
