Early Years Assistant
Cramond Primary School - Nursery

Salary: £16,287 - £18,316 (pro rata for sessional plus living wage allowance if applicable)
Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks per year

Cramond Primary is a non-denominational school built in 1975. The school serves the village of Cramond and the surrounding areas of northwest Edinburgh. We are part of the Royal High School cluster and work closely with the other associated primaries of Blackhall, Clermiston and Davidson's Mains. The school roll is over 400 pupils. We have a custom built nursery on site with places for 50 pupils in morning and 50 afternoon places.

Our school building was extensively upgraded and extended in 1999 and then again recently in 2006. There are 15 classrooms and a large nursery classroom. Other facilities include a new sportshall, a nurture room and a support for learning base.
Cramond are looking for an Early Years Assistant to support children in the playrooms and throughout the learning environment through organised activities, providing support, assistance and encouragement to help each individual child achieve the best learning and development outcomes possible.

Early Years Assistants are required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within 6 months of starting employment. They are also required to achieve an SCQF Level 2 Social Services for Children and Young People qualification within 5 years of being registered with the SSSC and this is funded by the early years service. There will be an opportunity for those who wish to progress to SCQF Level 3 to receive funding for this.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.

The City of Edinburgh Council applies a Living Wage allowance to ensure that all employees earn at least £9.07 per hour. Successful applicants will be paid the hourly rate as advertised, plus the allowance, in order to bring their earnings to £9.07 per hour
