The person in the role will be expected to deliver an outstanding level of Database Administration support across all of Vocalink’s systems, ensuring Vocalink’s systems meet or exceed defined SLAs.This role will include liaison with other technical areas such as Unix System Administration, Middleware Support, Application Support, Capacity Management, Architecture designers, Development Teams, Acceptance Testing and Service and Operations Management.Role:• Perform database troubleshooting and performance monitoring of production databases and ensure that incident issues are resolved effectively and quickly using Vocalink toolsets.• Provide project support to development teams including troubleshooting and performance tuning.• Perform cross team service troubleshooting, highlighting database related issues and effectively in resolution of problems.• Deliver, to demanding timescales, project work including the build or enhancement of database systems.• Implement Oracle Software installs and upgrades.• Provide Live 2nd and 3rd line operational support activities on a 24x7 basis.• Provide technical support for test systems including out of hours and weekend working.• Work closely and effectively with management to help safeguard Live service and escalate any issues through the appropriate communication channels.• Document and manage change to existing systems.• Provide technical support to other teams.• Identify and deliver system improvements.• Effectively transition new systems into Live operations and contribute to the development and continuous review of appropriate practices, standards, processes and guidelines.• Identify and document procedures, policies, methods and practices to support existing systems.
