Sewell Wallis are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant based just outside of Leeds City Centre.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with ambitions to progress within and develop their career within accounts, especially those looking to move towards management accounts.

The role will involve an element of transactional finance but will also involve working on the month end process and elements of management accounts.

The role would suit candidates who have worked in a fast paced, targeted environment, ideally within an Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant role.

As the Assistant Accountant you will:

Accurately and quickly process sales invoices/credit notes/manual invoices. Producing accurate monthly customer statements and agent commission statements.
Process daily foreign cash receipts onto customer accounts on the clients software systems so that customer accounts are accurate and up to date.
Chase customers for payments to ensure invoices are paid on the due date. Ensure debtor days are kept within the budgeted limit.
Perform monthly stock reconciliations.
Produce accurate monthly journals for the general ledger by the deadline date.
Cover for the Accounts Department when colleagues are absent to ensure the workload is continued and managed appropriately.
Prepare the monthly HMRC despatches accurately and timely to avoid penalties.
Produce accurate monthly journals for the general ledger by the deadline date.

The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in an Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant role although this is not essential.
An AAT Level 3/equivalent qualification.
Strong communication skills with experience in a customer facing role.
Excellent Microsoft Excel experience.
A resilient and calm approach to problems when they arise.
The ability to work independently and within a team.
